Stop at Cheur Khmao pagoda, “Black Wood pagoda”, in Bak Prier floating village and cross the floating village of Prek Tuol. Picnic lunch on board.  Continue by boat across the Tonle Sap Lake to Chhong Khneas floating village. Arrive at Siem Reap port and transfer to Siem Reap town. Note: During the dry season from mid January to mid July, the low level of the Sangker River can extend the navigation between Battambang and Siem Reap or even make the navigation impossible. We recommend during this season Option 2, an overland transfer from Battambang to Siem Reap.

Option 2 (Mid January - Mid July)

Depart from Battambang to Siem Reap via Sisophon by overland. Visit the Khmer silk village of Phnom Srok or “the little hill” and discover the whole process of transformation in the silk production – from the mulberry tree leaf to scintillating silk. Cambodia has several centuries of a strong silk tradition. However, silk production has encountered many difficulties in the last decades due to wars and population displacement. Most silk villages had to discontinue this handicraft, but Phnom Srok is the only area which has continuously maintained its knowledge and skills both in silkworm breeding and weaving. Huge rice paddy fields and a beautiful ornithological sanctuary border this islet of a few kilometers square. There, you will discover the skills of women who today are vigorously reviving these activities. Walking through “the trails of the golden silk” the visitor will encounter a quiet rural lifestyle, the beautiful traditional dwellings, the rice warehouses, the children’s curiosity and laughter, the smiles of the adults.
Upon arrive in Siem Reap and transfer to your hotel and remainder of day free at leisure. Overnight in Siem Reap at hotel.

In the morning, visit the South Gate (with its huge statues depicting the churning of the ocean of milk), the ancient capital of Angkor Thom(12th century), and then take elephant around 15 – 20 minute to Bayon temple, Bayon Temple (unique for its 54 towers decorated with over 200 smiling faces of Avolokitesvara), theRoyal Enclosure, Phimeanakas, the Elephants Terrace and the Terrace of the Leper King. Afternoon, visit the most famous of all the temples on the plain of Angkor: Angkor Wat. The temple complex covers 81 hectares and is comparable in size to the Imperial Palace in Beijing. Its distinctive five towers are emblazoned on the Cambodian flag and the 12th century masterpiece is considered by art historians to be the prime example of classical Khmer art and architecture. Angkor Wat’s five towers symbolize Meru’s five peaks – the enclosed wall represents the mountains at the edge of the world and the surrounding moat, the ocean beyond. Afternoon, Sunset at Angkor Wat. This evening enjoy dinner and Cambodian Cultural Dance performance at Apsara Theatre. Overnight in Siem Reap at Hotel.

Day 17: Siem Reap– Luang Prabang (B/L)

After breakfast, we visit the highlights of the Grand Circuit; visit Ta Prohm, one of the area’s most beautiful temples. Ta Prohm has been left relatively untouched since it was discovered and retains much of its mystery. Its appeal lies in the fact that, unlike the other monuments of Angkor, it was abandoned and swallowed by the jungle, looking very much the ways most of the Angkor temples appeared when European explorers first stumbled upon them. VisitPreah Khan.  Built by King Jayavarman VII, Preah Khan is, like Ta Prohm, a place of towered enclosures and shoulder-hugging corridors. Unlike Ta Prohm, though, it’s well preserved and ongoing restoration efforts should improve this situation. Visit as wellNeak Peana fountain built in the middle of a pool and the temple ofTa Som. Afternoon, visit "Les Artisans d'Angkor - Chantiers Ecoles" of Siem Reap and time at leisure at the local market (if time permits). Transfer back to Siem Reap International Airport for your flight to next destination.

Upon arrival at the airport, you will be met and transferred to your hotel. Luang Prabang is perhaps the best-preserved traditional city in Southeast Asia. The tranquility and charm of this town with its splendid natural scenery and cultural sights make it one of the most delightful places to visit in Laos. After a short rest, we visit the impressive stupa of Wat Visoun and the shrine of Wat Aham, Wat Mai. We then ascent up to the top of Mount Phousi for an enjoyable exploration of the sacred, gilded stupa as well as a beautiful sunset view of the city and the Mekong River. From there, we explore the Night Market, where you can find a lovely selection of handmade textiles made by the local and hilltribe people surrounding Luang Prabang.

Overnight in Luang Prabang

This tradition is very unique in Laos, being the only Buddhist nation still preserving the procession.

We then board a cruise upstream on the Mekong River, which also gives us a panaromic view of the tranquil countryside as well as an interesting visit to the mysterious of Pak Ou Caves, two linked caves crammed with thousands of gold lacquered Buddha statues of various shapes and sizes left by pilgrims. Along the way, we stop at the small village of Ban Xanghai, where the local rice wine is distilled. We return to Luang Prabang in the afternoon.

The Khouangsi Waterfall setting really illustrates paradise.
