The central highlands of Vietnam are home to a number of Hill Tribes that are descended from Malayo-Polynesians and Khmer. These are the aboriginal Indochinese people. They are commonly known as montagnards - a term coined by the French meaning mountain people. The Vietnamese know them as Moi which means savage. They refer to themselves as 'dega' which mean first people.

Mai Chau is a mountainous area of outstanding natural beauty, inhabited by a Thai and H’mong ethnic minority groups. This trip offers an easy trek combined with home stay in villages of Thai people. You will trek for two days through the scenic and peaceful villages and stay overnight in local homes where we have the chance to get to learn about culture of the Thai people. From the mountainous region of Mai Chau, we travel back to the nation’s capital, Hanoi.

Sapa lies in the very north west of Vietnam near the Chinese border. Along with Halong Bay it is the "other" major excursion from Hanoi. Time permitting you can do a circuit around the northwest highlands which takes in Mai Chau, Son La, Dien Bien Phu, Lai Chau and finally Sapa before heading back to Hanoi. This would take at least a week by private vehicle and longer on local buses. During the wet season roads can be treacherous with landslides common. The best time to visit is from March to May and from September to mid-December.

Sapa is an enchanting little place. It isn't just the specatculars views that attracted many travellers to travel so far to get here. Sapa is also home to many ethnic minority tribes, the largest being the Hmong and Yao.

Cao Bang is in the region where the Vietnamese people lived thousands of years ago before their southwards expansion. Thus, it has several points of historical interest as well as many natural features such as the Pac Bo (at the mouth of the confluence of two rivers namely Bang Giang and Hien rivers) where Ho Chi Minh in January 1941 established a revolutionary force at a cave (Cac Bo Cave), the Mac King's Temple, the Ky Sam Temple, Coi Bin Church, the Ban Gioc waterfall area at the international border between Vietnam and China and the Thang Hen Mountain Lake.

Meanwhile, Lang Son is a northeastern province which is located on the Sino-Vietnamese border over a stretch of 253km. The capital of Lang Son, 500m above sea level, is situated on the left bank of Ky Cung River..With many ethnic groups and picturesque scenaries, Lang Son promises giving any tourist a meaningful, memorable trip.
